>>Article: 7 Ways to Add Adventure to Your Daily Living
Adding adventure to your daily life does not have to include a trek to Nepal or something expensive. What follows are 7 simple ways--one for each day of the week--to add a little more adventure to your day.
- Sunday: If you always take the same trail when you walk or the same route to work, take another one today. I did this one time and walked past a place giving away free books. One of the books I found was on a topic I had just been wanting to know more about.
- Monday: Take a risk today. What does a risk look like for you? Of course, it'll be different for everyone. Go for something that makes you a little bit uncomfortable but not so uncomfortable that you won't do it. For instance, you might ask someone out or make a recommendation to implement a change at work.
- Tuesday: Write a list of 50 things you want to do in your life. Write a wide range of items, from those requiring lots of planning to those that can be done now. Pick one to do today.
- Wednesday: Take an unexpected action and, if possible, include friends or family. If you are known to always do X, then do Y.
- Thursday: Take your neighbor's dog for a walk. I bet they'll appreciate it! If they don't have a dog, offer to do something for them--even if it's as simple as bringing their paper up from the street to their door.
- Friday: Sit still for 5 minutes and watch the grass grow. One of the best lessons I learned this past year is that INaction is a form of action. When you slow down, what shows up for you? Are you tense, peaceful, happy?
- Saturday: Celebrate! You've taken 6 actions to increase and embrace adventure in your life. What would you LOVE to do right now? Go do it!
